Review: Fairydrops Volume Burst Mascara

It usually takes me a while, a good 3 months or so, to review a mascara just because I want to consume the one I have decided to use up to its expiry date before I open a new tube. Well, the story differs if curiosity strikes in the middle. That was what happened 2 week ago when I opened and decided to try the  Fairydrops Volume Burst Mascara though I still am using the one I reviewed some time ago.

I have heard raves of Fairydrops mascaras but I set the ones I have aside first to give way to the mascaras I think I won't like as much. I have had this since November 2012 and just gave it a try last week. I held my horses that long and wished this famous mascara will also do its magic on me.

Mascara with Fiber!
A volumizing, waterproof (for Waterproof Type) or water resistant (for Film Type) mascara with a brush so unique it is patented in Japan and USA. It contains Volume Up Powder, Wax and Fiber to make “Volume Burst” in one coat to give you lush, doll-like lashes. -- information taken from Faiydrops Philippines Facebook page.

One of the interesting features of this mascara is its 3 teardrop wand. The technology behind the wand revolves around the idea that the 'balls' can catch even the shortest strand. Okay, I must admit that performance always have the higher appeal on me more than the wand so I didn't give much attention to it.

I LIKE that it ...

  • is water-resistant.
  • doesn't smudge.
  • keeps the curl.
  • doesn't feel heavy on the eyelashes.
  • adds a decent amount of length.
  • gives volume to my very sparse eyelashes.
  • doesn't flake off.
  • has the perfect formula -- not to wet, not too dry.
  • dries fast.
  • well-sealed upon purchase.
  • is housed in a very cute and girly tube.
  • it is easy to remove.
  • is available in all Beauty Bars nationwide.

I DON'T LIKE that it ...
  • costs Php 950.00, more than what I am willing to shell out for a mascara.
  • clumps, especially when applied in 2-3 coats.

Will I repurchase?
No.

For comparison, this is how my bare but curled eyelashes look like.

After a coat of Fairydrops Volume Burst Mascara, my eyelashes transform to something like the one below. An obvious amount of length and volume are added.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Fairydrops Volume Burst Mascara. The length it adds and the volume it gives to my eyelashes are really something I look for a mascara, it is just too expensive in my opinion. Also, I still have the waterproof one in my stash. I will give it a try first and let's see if my opinions of repurchasing it will be moved.

If you are someone who won't mind spending almost a thousand for a mascara, Fairydrops Volume Burst Mascara is a great buy. Just make sure you get the waterproof one so it would really stay on for hours!
