Review: CMX Cosmetics Hydrating Facial Mist

Too much makeup can eventually dry the skin. It's a bigger problem for those with dry skin like me. Most often than not, I experience flaking and dryness whenever I wear heavy makeup. If you want to avoid it, you can opt not to set your foundation with powder but I tell you, there is a huge tendency of sliding. The quality of the makeup plays a vital factor to its staying power but sometimes, the quality is dictated by the price you're willing to pay. Thank goodness for products that set and make the makeup stay longer than usual.

Aside from a primer, I use the ELF Facial Mist & Set (click to read my review of the product) to ensure the staying power of my makeup. I am not sure if it is available in local ELF counters, though. Good thing, I was introduced to a local alternative.

Say 'hi!' to CMX Cosmetics Hydrating Facial Mist! I remember E telling me, "Ate, may ibibigay ako sa iyo. Subukan mo nga! (Ate, I'll give you something. Try it!)" Who am I to say no free stuff? I gladly accepted her offer and days after, she handed me this baby.

It took me a while to try this out. Maybe because I don't wear too much makeup regularly and that I don't see the need of a makeup setting spray for everyday. Until one day came, I took this out from my closet to try if it'll work good. I went out to watch a movie and to stroll around the mall, the perfect time to try how good it'll work to set my makeup in place.

CMX Cosmetics Hydrating Facial Mist:
Refresh, rehydrate, and revitalize your face with CMX Cosmetics Hydrating Facial Mist! Its unique formula helps you feed your skin with nutrients and set your makeup leaving you with clear and energized skin.
Instructions: Use CMX Cosmetics Hydrating Facial Mist several times a day. Wait for a few seconds and gently dab away.

I sprayed it all over my face at around 2:00 P.M., minutes before I left the house.

As instructed, I used it several times during the day whenever I felt like using it. I went home at around 10:00 P.M. and here was how my makeup looked like. Photos were taken with the flash on. Quality may be affected.

I did not retouch or dabbed powder on my face for the entire 8 hours I was out of the house. It was quite noticeable that my foundation stayed in place except in the areas around my nose, under my eyes and around the temples. My eyebrows looked the same and there was still a hint of blush on my cheeks.

What I LIKE about it:
  • Affordable -- I'll get back to you with its exact price, but I believe it costs less than Php400.00!
  • Contains 50ml of product
  • Sealed upon purchase
  • Manufacturing and Expiration dates are printed

  • Has no scent
  • Does not feel sticky or greasy
  • Dries pretty fast
  • Sets the makeup in place
  • Hydrates the skin
  • Does not sting the eyes -- But still close your eyes when using this!
  • Does not cause me breakouts or any skin issues

What I DON'T LIKE about it:
  • The nozzle is hard to control -- I once had my face wet with the product!
  • Has a tendency to cause smudging of eyeliners and mascaras
  • The bottle is too huge to fit a kikay kit -- Not so much of a problem but some may like it smaller.
  • Only available through Splash dealers

Will I repurchase?
YES!

Notes:
  1. To avoid smudging, spray at least 12 inches away from the face.
  2. Slowly press the nozzle to control the amount of product to dispense.
  3. Leave the product onto face for about 5-10 seconds before dabbing the excess away.

Take note that the quality of the makeup is still a factor in the effectiveness of this makeup setting spray. Nevertheless, I am loving it and I am happy to find an alternative once my ELF Facial Mist & Set bids goodbye. :) Oh, I hope its available in travel sizes. :)

In case you're interested, email me so I can hook you up with my friend who's a dealer of Splash. :)
