Review: Rimmel London Stay Matte Clarifying Matte Foundation

Wednesday, February 01, 2012

A couple of days ago, a friend asked me if I could review or feature products great for oily skin. Honestly, I tend to buy makeup that'll suit my super dry skin so I don't give much attention on other products. It was very timely that my friends from All Glammed Up sent me the Rimmel London Stay Matte Clarifying Matte Foundation (What a mouthful!) for review . Thank you, Gellie and Celine!

Though I know this won't work on my dry skin, I still gave this baby a try. Also, who in her normal mind won't get caught by this claim?

"Up to 12 hours shine control?" is such a huge claim. Admit it, if not for a good primer, some foundation will not make its way to last until the end of the day. So one day, I decided to use this foundation without thinking that I might end up with a dry and flaky face.

The picture above was taken at around 9:00 A.M. By noon, I noticed that the areas around my nose and my temples were starting to flake. Though the dryness of my face was overwhelming, I noticed that it stayed on until I got home at around 7:00 P.M. Pretty good, huh? :)

Rimmel London Stay Matte Clarifying Matte Foundation:
Shine control formula for up to 12 hours matte coverage. With SkinPure Complex for a visibly purified complexion and gentle botanical extracts to help soothe sensitive skin. Oil-free. Non-comedogenic. Non-acnegenic. Fragrance free. Paraben free.

For confirmation, I asked a friend to test this product. She has extremely oily skin so this foundation is perfect to keep her face matte. I put this on her at around noon and asked her to give me updates. Guess what? She loved it! She loves how it gave her coverage and how it kept her face matte for hours!

What I LIKE about it:

  • Coverage can be built
  • Has no weird scent
  • Did not cause me breakouts
  • No paraben!
  • Long-wearing
  • Keeps the face matte
  • Affordable

What I DON'T LIKE about it:
  • Emphasizes the dryness of my skin

Will I repurchase?
For clients, YES!

This foundation dries easily so make sure to be quick in applying this all over the face. I will be using this on clients with oily skin. :)
