Jennifer Lynn Gel Polish

The raves about gel polish made me so interested about it. So when I got invited to try out Jennifer Lynn Gel Polish in Nailandia, I immediately said yes. It's been a week since I got my nails covered with Jennifer Lynn nail polish and so far, I am liking it!

If you will ask, gel polish is in the same family as acrylics. It's thicker than the usual nail polish and it needs to be dried under UV lamps which are designed just for it. Unlike the manicure that we know, gel manicure maintain high gloss and color without fading for 2-4 weeks. It does not chip, peel or snap off. Also, it is said to increase the strength and flexibility of the nails. (http://gelpolish.org/)

There are so many brands that makes gel polishes but in the Philippines, Jennifer Lynn is on top of the market. Again, unlike the usual nail polishes, gel polishes can't be done at home because it needs a UV lamp (unless you have a UV lamp at home) to dry. Also, there is a certain way of applying it so make sure that you have it done by a professional. I am sure that there are many salons that now offer gel manicure and one is Nailandia Nail Studio and Body Spa, where I had mine.

I can no longer enumerate the procedures of gel polish application because I was busy enjoying the moment and chatting with my love, Kei of Kei's Lifestyle Closet. But one thing is for sure, gel manicure takes more than an hour to apply! It's okay if you're having it done in a place as cozy as Nailandia!

I chose the color Hannah because I think it would complement my usual wardrobe and it would look good on my skin tone. Red is my 'usual' nail polish color, by the way.

Day 1: This was how my nails looked when I stepped out of the nail studio. One word: PERFECT. It was glossy and the color intensity was exactly what I wanted. It felt a bit sticky which went away after I thoroughly washed my hands.

Day 4: With the usual manicures, gloss and color will start to fade on day 4 but with gel polish it did not. I noticed chipping on the sides of my nails, though. Look at my thumb. But still, I was happy with it.

Day 7: Exactly a week after I got gel polish, this was how my nails look like. Still looked pretty but chipping went crazy, especially on my left index finger. See photo below. But still, I like it because my nails won't look as good with normal nail polishes.

What I LIKE about it:
  • Affordable -- Gel polish application at Nailandia costs around Php400.00. You may find it too steep for a manicure but think on how much you can save because you don't have to change your nail color that often.
  • Gloss and color stays on for more than a week! -- It can last for 2 to 4 weeks.
  • No major chipping -- I am not bothered with the chipped part on my left index finger. :)
  • Does not peel or snap off
  • Increase the nails' strength and flexibility
  • Still looks good as new
  • Available in a wide range of colors

What I DON'T LIKE about it:
  • Not available in ALL nail studios
  • Can't be done at home

Will I have it again?
YES! I am now eyeing on colors Grace and Kate.

Note:
If you plan to have a gel manicure, make sure that you choose the color that you can wear for a long time and would match any wardrobe selection. For me, if beige or black is available, go for it!

If you live nearby Tomas Morato, visit Nailandia and get your nails needs there! :)

Nailandia Nail Studio and Body Spa is located at 198 Tomas Morato Avenue, Quezon City (in front of Zirkoh).

I'll still give you updates on my Jennifer Lynn Gel polish nails. I hope my nails won't grow fast so I don't have to brave my way to Tomas Morato that soon. :)
