Road Love: Davao - The Outland Adventure

The Outland Adventure is located in Diversion Road, Ma-a, Davao City. It is the home of the "The Xcelarator", the Asia's Fastest Zipline. This place is a pride of our country so we did not hesitate to try this out.

The zipline itself is 200 feet high and runs for about 1 kilometer. According to the guide, the speed of the ride depends on the weight of the rider. The heavier a person is, the faster s/he goes. I don't know if I should feel secure that I weigh less than a sack of rice or jealous of those who can go faster on the zipline. :)

The riders, as the staff calls them, will get geared up on the base (the start of the entire journey to the ride.) Then they need to cross a lake using a raft to get to the starting point of the hike. There is about a 45-minute hike to the start of the zipline. The track is to steep that you definitely need water to freshen and energize you up. Good thing I brought a liter. I don't know how long it took us to get to the top. All I remember was I got there one step at a time.

It was tiring but you'll forget how tired you are when you reach the top. At the end of the trek you'll see the breathtaking view of the mountains. You won't even think that you are stepping on a mountain located in the city. E and I was the 5th and 6th riders, respectively. We followed a group of young ones. I saw different reactions when their rides started. One didn't even utter a word but fear was shown by the sweat on her forehead, one shouted "cr*p!" about a hundred times, and one excitedly leaped out to zip. I thought that was hilarious, to be afraid of flying. But thought differed when it was my turn to zip. I became afraid of the thought that only a rope and couple of knots keep me from hitting the ground. But I do not backout so I jumped off to get the ride on the Asia's Fastest Zipline!

This the video I took when I rode the zipline on a superman position.

Flying for about 30 seconds felt good that I did it twice! :)
