Review: Body Treats Moisturizing Body Oil in Lavender

It is no secret that my skin is dry. Very dry, actually. I am somehow contented with body lotions until Ms. Nikki of AskMeWhats told me that I should try Neutrogena Body Oil. I scouted for it in Watson's and saw it's whopping price of Php598.00 (~$13). I hesitated to get it at that moment, of course. So I looked for an alternative. I saw Nivea and Body Treats have their versions of Body Oils. Nivea has it for only Php230.00 (~$5) and Beauty Treats for only P119.00 (~$3). Though I was already being pushed by my kuripot self to get the one from Body Treats, I still refused to get it. After all, I needed to have a professional opinion before jumping off to conclusions. This thought was bugging me then: "Will Nivea work as great as the Neutrogena one?"

It was indeed obvious that Neutrogena and Body Treats Body Oils were already omitted from my list. So, I went home empty-handed. Eager to try body oils, I tweeted Ms. Nikki and ask her if Nivea is as good as the Neutrogena body oil. She said and I quote, "It works too but if you skin is super dry, you may need a thicker formula! Mas thicker kasi ang Neutro." It was AskMeWhats who said it so I am sold to Neutrogena.

A day after, I went to the nearest Watson's to get the Neutrogena Body Oil. I was very decided that I was not entertaining the ideas that it won't be available. To my surprise, it was out of stock. I literally wanted to cry. Since I had Nivea as an option, I planned to get it. It was not yet available in that branch. By that moment, I wanted to burn that Watson's branch. Out of nowhere, Body Treats came out. I was like, "Is this what they call destiny?"  Haha! Corny! So yes, I got the Body Treats Body Oil in Lavender. I didn't want to go empty handed again so I got the least option hoping that it'll work just as good.
I chose the one in Lavender scent because it has the least flower-like scent. I personally think it smells like baby powder. I got this because I know I won't regret buying it if it won't work for me.

I am not aware of body oils. The only oils I know are the ones used for massages and hair treatments. You may laugh at my innocence now! As per the ingredients, I don't see any thing harmful.

Body Treats says:
Moisturize and condition your skin as you gently spread this light, non-greasy body oil. Feel that glamour texture glow onto your skin. Lavender oil added for that special glide and nourished touch.
Since it is oil, I was expecting that I'll feel greasy after application. Of course, it is somehow greasy but it dries up after some minutes.

What I like:
  • Inexpensive for only Php119 per 230mL. -- It also has a smaller bottle unlike the other body oils.
  • Moisturizing and keeps my skin moisturized for quite a long time.
  • My skin feels very smooth.
  • Smells good! -- I sometimes smell like a baby. :)
  • Has no allergic reaction
  • Easy to apply
  • A little amount goes a long way.

What I don't like:
  • Takes some time to dry. -- 2 to 3 minutes. This is not a huge problem for me since it takes me about 30 minutes to complete my entire routine.
  • Some may find it too greasy and shiny on the skin
  • The bottle/packaging tends to be greasy after use. -- I think it would be better if this is in a pump bottle.
  • The lavender scent does not stay long.

Will I repurchase?
Yes! But I am still planning to get the Neutrogena Body Oil. I am hoping it will be much better than this. :) I am actually replacing my lotions with body oils.

Notes:
  1. This works like a normal lotion.
  2. For maximum moisture and absorption, apply the body oil right after you bathe or when your body is still moist. -- A tip from AskMeWhats! Thank you!
  3. Wipe the bottle after use to clean up the grease.
  4. Reapply if needed.
  5. Don't be bothered by the greasy feeling after application, that will eventually dry up.
  6. For those with SUPER dry skin, try body oils with thicker formula. -- A tip from AskMeWhats! You love her, don't you?

Thank you, Ms. Nikki! As always, you suggested the best products to use. I will still try the Neutrogena Body Oil and I'll give you feedback on the results.

Have you tried using body oil? How do you find it?

  4. I used the sesame oil variant of this before and I loved it! I chose that one because i heard or read somewhere that sesame oil is very light and easily absorbed by the skin.

    great review!

  5. I'm a big fun of using body oil. The first product that I tried is Ellips body oil which really dry fast but so sad it is no longer available in the market then I switch to Neutrogena a bit expensive but it really work great, fast dry and the smell last long.

One of the reason why I'm into body oil its because I don't dream to be one...yong mga maputi which I guess every filipina want to be and lahat yata ng lotion today sa market ay may whitening ek ek na. kalurkey!

    Great post!
