Review: ELF Essentials Brightening Eye Liner

Remember the that I am/was in search of a good eyeliner? These two (2) products were part of my testing team. I got them a couple of months ago when my father sent me a bag of make-up (Yes, my father buys me make-up!). *laughing*. He got me products from ELF since a piece only costs $1 (around 50+++ in Philippine Peso) in the US.

ELF says:
Gel-powder formulation infused with skin soothers instantly brightens and glides on smoothly without tugging the delicate eye area.

Each eyeliner came with a sharpener which I forgot to take pictures of. Boo! It looks like a simple sharpener, though.

These are simple pencil eyeliners with much softer tips. I love that these are available in 6 shades: Coffee, Black, Midnight, Ash, Gilded, and Plum. Since I planned to have these used in almost all make-up looks, I chose the shades Coffee and Black.

What Jes' likes:
  • Inexpensive -- In the US it costs only $1.
  • Available locally -- It is available at ELF counters in department stores and some Watsons. It costs Php129.00, higher than the actual conversion on dollar to peso.
  • Easy application
  • It has soft and creamy texture.
  • No allergic reactions
  • Very pigmented, even on the waterline -- One swipe is enough!
  • It has its own sharpener that comes with the packaging.
  • Has a cover to avoid damages on the tip
  • Can easily be blended
  • Available in other cool and interesting shades
What Jes doesn't like:
  • Does not stay long on the waterline
  • Smudges and creases -- It is VERY creamy!
  • Other shades are not available at the local ELF counters
Will Jes repurchase:
NO! I have these which I think will last until I get other decent pencil eyeliners.

Notes:
  • I use this as a base whenever I go for a smoky eye.
  • For it to last long on the waterline, set it with a powder eyeshadow of the same shade.
Swatches:

I rubbed it off with a light hand. This is a proof that it doesn't stay put long enough.

  2. Lol! I remember when I asked my brother-in-law to buy me makeup in the US too when he had a vacation. It's funny cos SAs would look at him and one time at Sephora the SAs even joked and said "what are you doing here?!" lol!

Thanks for the review, btw :)

  7. ELF is a hit or miss brand. I love some of their studio line brushes, as well as their blushes. But yea, thats pretty bad when an eyeliner smidges so easily! Great review!

  8. @Jbreezybaby - I agree with you that ELF is a hit or miss brand. But still we have to consider its price. :)
